DetailsWe can allow users to develop modules and extend the application if we add a scripting engine and an interface to the core functions (database, network, image manipulation, text processing, etc.).
We have reviewed PHP and Javascript engines. The only useful PHP engine cannot be used due to licensing issues. There are several Javascript engines, but only a couple are useful. We are considering that. However, a few months ago we discovered Lua (www.lua.org), which looks promising and very easy to use (both for user and developer). We are considereing that too. Pending to check integration issues with Delphi code. |
